Superb Louis Vuitton courier trunk dating from circa 1926 / 1927, covered with the iconic stenciled canvas and reinforced with lozine trim, a hallmark finish of the Maison’s creations during the early 20th century.
The trunk bears the original owner’s initials, “M.S.C”, hand-painted on each side — a detail emblematic of the elegant travel tradition of the period.
It is fitted with two leather handles, restored to match the original design, Louis Vuitton–stamped brass locks, and four rolling castors mounted beneath the base, allowing easy transport during long railway or ocean voyages.
The interior is entirely original, lined with cotton canvas and featuring its padded lid with the signature Louis Vuitton ribbons still in place. The authentic Louis Vuitton label remains intact, showing the serial number and the historic store addresses in Paris and London.
In good overall condition, the trunk displays a beautiful natural patina on the exterior canvas and retains a complete and well-preserved interior. This classic Louis Vuitton courier format remains one of the most desirable for today’s collectors and decorators alike — perfectly suited as a coffee table, side trunk, or centerpiece in a refined modern interior.
This trunk is currently available exclusively at Maxfield in Los Angeles, where you are warmly invited to view it on Melrose Avenue.
