Charming and rare Louis Vuitton trunk from the 1910s, entirely covered in natural leather and fitted with its original side handles.
At the time, this type of finish represented the most prestigious and expensive option offered by the Maison. Noble, dense, and demanding, natural leather required meticulous care and careful handling. Owning such luggage reflected not only refined taste but also the means to afford the specialized staff required to transport it aboard ships, trains, or carriages.
For this reason, it is today exceptionally rare to find a trunk of this type preserved in such beautiful condition more than a century after its creation.
This model features an unusual and feminine format, likely custom-made for a lady traveler. The study of its interior reveals a versatile design: the first level, lined with felt, was intended for boots to avoid dirt marks, while the second compartment was designed for hats, secured with an elegant network of crossed ribbons.
The interior, entirely original, boasts refined quilting and retains its authentic Louis Vuitton label showing the historical addresses of the Maison.
On the exterior, a painted number “6” near the central lock indicates that the original owner traveled with a complete set of at least six matching trunks.
In very good overall condition, the piece shows a magnificent leather patina, a complete interior, and a solid structure.
Its compact size and graceful proportions make it a highly sought-after decorative piece — perfect as a small side table, nightstand, or accent piece in an elegant interior.
Note: a similar model, with comparable dimensions, is also available and would make a particularly harmonious and refined ensemble.
