Charming small Louis Vuitton trunk from the 1920s, covered with the iconic stenciled monogram canvas and reinforced with lozine trim, typical of this period.
This refined and uncommon model was a special order, made for its original owner to store shirts during travel. On each side appears the owner’s initial “P”, hand-painted inside a red circle, a personalization typical of the early 20th century.
The underside of the trunk is fitted with four wheels, and it retains its two original leather handles as well as three large brass locks stamped Louis Vuitton.
The interior, in excellent condition, is lined with beige cotton canvas and features a padded lid. The original Louis Vuitton label remains intact, listing the serial number and the historic store addresses of the Maison.
Small wooden battens are still visible — once used to support removable dividers, allowing travelers to carefully organize their garments. As is often the case, these internal elements have since disappeared, but their original presence reflects the sophistication and precision of the design.
In very good overall condition, the trunk shows a beautiful patina on the exterior canvas, well-preserved leather trim, and a clean, complete interior. Its compact and elegant proportions make it an ideal decorative piece, perfectly suited as a bedside table or accent trunk.
A similar model, of the same format but fully covered in leather, is also available for sale — together, they form a particularly harmonious and decorative pair.
This trunk is currently available exclusively at Maxfield in Los Angeles, where you are warmly invited to view it on Melrose Avenue.
